How many active users does Quora have in German?

Thank you for the A2A!

Unfortunately, I don’t have exact figures about it myself and Quora doesn’t, or very rarely, release numbers. In any case, the number of users is growing daily, as Quora is still young in German (launch was at the beginning of July 2017).

But I would like to make my own (very rough) estimate of how many users are in German on Quora. How active these users are is hard to say. There are also users who have “looked by” briefly from English and then tend to travel in frequently or passively on this language.

Now these figures are based on today – i.e. December 19, 2017:

  • Comparison of the number of followers, in brackets, of known topics (Topics):
    • Technology (34k) vs. Technology (31.6m) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • Sciences (31.3k) vs. Science (28.1m)
    • Education (22.3k) vs. Education (22.5m)
    • Books (15.9k) vs. Books (22.9m)
    • Travel (20.1k) vs. Visiting and Travel (19.7m)
    • Music (19.4k) vs. Music (24.8m)
    • Movies (12.9k) vs. Movies (25.6m) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • Health (21.4k) vs. Health (23.8m) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • Business (13.6k) vs. Business (20m) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • Cooking (13.8k) vs. Cooking (14.2m) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
    • Literature (11.1k) vs. Literature (6.8m)
      • Average ratio (DE:EN): 0.942
  • Comparison of the number of followers, in brackets, of more for topics of interest to German speakers:
    • Germany (5.8k) vs. Germany (652.6k)
    • Switzerland (811) vs. Switzerland (26.7k)
    • Austria (766) vs. Austria (12k)
    • German (language) (3.5k) vs. German (language) (126.3k)
      • Doriginal cut ratio (DE:EN): 32.702″

As you can see now, there is a big difference between the topics that are more interested in German speakers and the more general topics.

It can already be said that Quora has at least 34,000 users in German.

Last September, Kerstin Ewelt wrote a blog post about Quora World Meetup Week, noting that Quora has reached the milestone of 200 million users. For simplicity, we assume that the English Quora has a total number of registered users of 200 million. To get a more accurate value, I take the average ratio of the first group here. If you multiply them by the 200 million, you get 188,400. Because Quora has been in English for years, I would rather consider this as an upper limit.

Thus, my rough estimateis that Quora has between 35,000 and 190,000 users in English on today’s date (19.12.2017).

There is still a lot of potential for Quora in German and let us hope that it will continue to grow!

Legend:

  • m = 1 million
  • k = 1 thousand

All the numbers were picked out on Quora.
